It was a great day for National Unity Platform (NUP) chief mobiliser Fred Nyanzi (Chairman Nyanzi) and his wife Majorine Namukisa Katumba on Friday, April 26 when they exchanged vows at Rubaga Cathedral.

The couple hosted their guests to an after-party at Freedom City, Namasuba on Entebbe Road, attended by several members of NUP, founded by Nyanzi's younger brother, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Since the main colour of NUP is red, it was expected that the decor would have lots of red, but that was not the case.

In his speech, Chairman Nyanzi explained why he delayed to wed his wife with whom he has been with for over 20 years.

"Since our father died when  I was young yet was the elder brother, I had to take up his responsibilities in the home," he said.

Chairman Nyanzi expressed gratitude to God for being able to construct his own house.

"We are no longer renting. We have our own house," he said.

On her part, Namukisa, while addressing guests, said: "l remember when we were renting in Kireka, our landlord used to call us pigs and piglets because we were so poor,  but now he sees us on TV. I wonder what he thinks now. Never judge people. It's not good."

Bobi Wine and wife Barbie also attended the wedding.

He said he and his team are planning a mass wedding for his foot soldiers.

"I want us to reach 2026 when we have all wedded our wives. Those who do not have money, we are planning to do a mass wedding at our offices (Bwaise)," Kyagulanyi stated.

He wedded Barbie at Rubaga Cathedral in 2011. They have four children.
