The Uganda Netball League Division I returns this weekend with Weyonje challenging KCCA.

KCCA missed out on the opening weekend due to the late vaccination of their players, but this weekend, the microscope is on them to challenge their counterparts.

Weyonje has the momentum following their win over UPDF last weekend. KCCA who finished second in the 2019 season are expecting a good start to the season in order to challenge the better teams.

Prisons under coach Imelda Nyongesa also have the idea to challenge for the title but they will have to first go past UPDF at home in Luzira this Saturday.

“We have prepared well, the girls are ready for Saturday’s game and the season in general. We are very prepared because we had some friendly matches with some boys, Weyonje and UPDF so the team is ready,” Nyongesa said.

The challenge as expected will be stiff and the plan is for the two teams to play to the final whistle.

“Here you cannot judge until the last whistle you may go on court saying you are winning and you are beaten. Netball is not about sure wins, you actually have to play for the win,” she explained.

Other matches in division one will be between Police Netball Club and KBK at police children’s School at 2 pm while Uganda X Luweero is expected to face Posta at Makerere NIC grounds.

The second division (women) and the men’s league will also throw off this weekend
