FUFA Big League playoff final

Gaddafi 2 Proline 0

Gaddafi coach Hassan Zungu has hailed his team after beating the odds to earn promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

Gaddafi defeated Proline 2-0 in the FUFA Big League playoff final on Tuesday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru to become the third team to be promoted to the top flight. The others are Tooro United and Arua Hills.

“The journey to reach this stage has not been easy. But the players have given their best to see that we reach where we are today. Despite the challenges caused by the pandemic, we still managed to come out strong,” stated Zungu.

Steven Munguchi opened the scoring for Gaddafi before Frank Mulimi doubled the lead in the 80th minute.

Gaddafi, who created the better chances, should have scored a lot more had James Otim and Joel Madondo converted their chances.

Skipper Pascal Ngobi hailed the commitment from the players in the fight for promotion.

“This has not been easy but the commitment of the players also played a part. We want to remain in the league for a long time. The players have been highly motivated since we joined the FUFA Big League and our target was to make it to the topflight,” Ngobi noted.
