COVID-19: 56 new cases confirmed in Uganda

KAMPALA - The ministry of health has confirmed 56 new cases of COVID-19 in Uganda, bringing the total to 126,889.

The ministry said Saturday that the tests it did on November 11 confirmed these cases out of the 6,668 samples collected that day.

While breaking down the new cases, the ministry said Kabarole has 13, Bunyangabo 6, Kampala 6, while Wakiso and Mbarara have two each.

Kamwenge, Gulu, Amuru and Napak have three new cases each, while Isingiro and Mbale have two each.

The districts of Kiryandongo, Masaka, Mpigi, Namisindwa, Kabale, Masindi and Kisoro have one each.

The ministry reported one more COVID-19 death, bringing the total to 3,237.

It also said the cumulative recoveries were 96,989 and that 3,938,740 people had been vaccinated against coronavirus.

President Yoweri Museveni said in his national address on October 28 that by the end of December 2021, more than 12 million Ugandans should have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The President noted that by the end of December, Uganda will have received 23 million doses of vaccines and that he will fully open up the country in January next year whether people go for vaccination or not.
