President Museveni to launch 2024 census on Tuesday

President Yoweri Museveni will on Tuesday December 12, 2023 launch the National Population and Housing Census 2024, at the Kololo Independence grounds.

Dedicus Okoth, Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) media manager, on Friday December 8, 2023 urged stakeholders unable to physically be in Kololo to monitor the proceedings via live broadcast on radio, television and online platforms.

In July this year, UBOS announced the postponement of the census which was supposed to be carried out in August 2023.

The postponement was to allow UBOS procure the necessary tablets to enable them facilitate the first ever digital census.

Every after 10 years, Uganda holds census and the last one was carried out in 2014.

Census results helps in guiding government when it comes to planning, formulation of policies, monitoring of government projects, implementation of projects among others.
