Use plants, art to embellish your balcony

In some modern homes, the balcony acts as an extension of the interior, especially the living room. In that case, Maureen Nakabuye, an interior designer suggests decorating this space, however small or tight.

If you use unique décor pieces, they will go a long way in transforming your outdoors.
She says you can create a beautiful relaxation spot or entertainment corner on the balcony. “If your budget is limited, just focus on the walls. Use simple and affordable accessories to embellish this space,” she says.

Christine Tendo, another designer suggests adding some artwork on the walls. It can be a wall hanging or decorative baskets in different colours.

However, you can also choose wallpaper, recycled pieces from your kitchen like plates, or a natural garden wall.

Flat plates with the same design will add a unique pattern to your balcony.

Tendo adds that if your balcony is enclosed as an extension of the sitting room, add curtains and potted plants for privacy. You can also plant an herbal garden and harvest spices for your teas and sauces.
