In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of St Cyprian Secondary School, Kyabakadde, a section of the school's old students has met to plan how to develop and rebuild it.

The school, which was founded by the late Kampala Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga to help the community, is expected to celebrate its anniversary in October 2023.

The get-together at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Rubaga division, Kampala on Saturday, was graced by headteacher Joseph Kamya, former teachers and Olive Nankya, a member of the board of governors.

Other people at the function, included alumnae nuns, high-profile former students and current students, led by head boy Marvin Ssebuya and head girl, Bridget Nabatanzi.

Sister Bernadette Nalubuga said: "We are happy that the school is regaining its glory with the current administration and several projects are being undertaken including co-curricular."

However, Allan Kabugo said, “as old students, we have the responsibility to support our school as a way of giving back".

As part of the alumni’s continued commitment to reconnect, gather and support their old school, they have created a choir to sing at events and during Mass every Sunday at Martyrs Lake, Namugongo in Wakiso district.

The alumni promised to reconnect and fundraise for the betterment of activities that are happening at their 25 years of their school in October.

Emmanuel Mutebi, one of the organisers, said: “The get-together is an excellent means of keeping in touch with contemporaries and news from former students is always welcome”.

Meanwhile, Nankya, one of the board members, said: “The Alumni’s executive had achieved the association’s objective of bringing the Old students together”.

Nankya later thanked the alumni in the diaspora for their exceptional love towards their school.

The school, formerly known as Bishop Cyprian Lwanga High School, Kyabakadde, was founded in 1996 by Kizito Lwanga.

Its formation was inspired by the desire to offer affordable yet quality education to the people of Kyabakadde and the neighbourhoods.
