For any gardener or plant enthusiast, breaking a planter, especially a ceramic one, can be a nightmare. Ceramic planters are usually high priced, partly because they are imported.

Amelia Momo Masiko, a resident of Naalya, has been collecting flowers for years. Most of her plants are potted in ceramic planters. She says she buys a set of three big ones for Sh500,000 upwards, depending on the seller and market. However, her pets and workers have broken some of her planters.

Denicah Aine, broke some planters but created something else out of the pieces. “Ceramics are too expensive and beautiful to just dispose of." "When they break, I put the pieces together and plant flowers in them,” she says. Also, broken coffee cups can be recycled into beautiful garden planters. Just put the broken bits together into a planter and add succulents because they are slow growers and low maintenance.
