Vision Group deputy head re-elected laity head in Mbarara Archdiocese

MBARARA - Vision Group Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Gervase Ndyanabo has been re-elected head of laity in Mbarara Archdiocese.

Ndyanabo will be deputized by MD of National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Silver Mugisha. 

According to officials from the Mbarara Archdiocese, Ndyanabo was re-elected unopposed in an election that took place Friday.

Headed by Bishop Paul Ssemwogerere of Kasana-Luweero, Ndyanabo has been the head of the laity of Mbarara Archdiocese from 2013 to date. 

In Mbarara Archdiocese, Ndyanabo was chairman of development committee association for six years, doubling as chairman of Mbarara Ecclesiastical Provincial Association (MEPA) for six years. He was also a member of the governing council of the Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi.

Ndyanabo is also President of the Uganda National Catholic Council of Lay Apostolate (UNCCLA)

Who is Ndyanabo?     

He was born on November 8, 1964, to Francis Bagirirereryo and the late Valeria Bagirirereryo of Kiyenje village in Bukanga County in Isingiro district.

Ndyanabo, the second born of nine children, went to Kiyunji primary school from P-1-P.5, he joined St Mukasa Preparatory Seminary in Bushenyi for P.6-P.7. 

After primary school, he joined Kitabi Seminary and secondary school for O-Level and A-Level at Ntare School.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Makerere University and a Masters in MBA from Edinburgh Business, United Kingdom. 

He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor. He is a member of the Institutes of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and Kenya, and The Global Institute of Internal Auditors.

Ndyanabo worked at Coopers Lybrand for two years before joining New Vision.    

Ndyanabo was chairman of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA) for 15 years. 

The umbrella association unites all Catholics that hail from Mbarara Archdiocese living in Kampala and surrounding areas such as Entebbe, Mukono, Wakiso and Jinja.

The Archdiocese of Mbarara has 58 Parishes and each one has members in AMDA. The Association currently has over 3,000 members and the number is still growing.

The association before was known as Mbarara Diocese Development Association (MDDA) and is associated with Christians from western Uganda under their umbrella body; Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Kampala Residents Association (MEPA).

Ndyanabo was the chairman of the steering committee of Mbarara organizing Uganda Martyrs Day 2013.

He joined Vision Group in 1989 as an Internal Auditor. He became Chief Internal Auditor in 1995 and then Company Secretary in 2005. He was the company secretary of the New Vision Group, and has been nominated director on the global board of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in the US.

Ndyanabo married Rose Ndyanabo, a lecturer at Makerere Business School (MUBS) Nakawa, with three children, two girls and one boy.
