Prisons Netball Club has intensified its preparations ahead of the East Africa Netball Club Championships slated for May 12 to 21 in Dar-es-Salaam.

Under the guidance of team coach Imeldah Nyongesa, the squad is undergoing training at their home ground Luzira, aiming to put up a great show in Tanzania.

"We are ready as always. Our goal is to engage in a series of friendly games to assess areas for improvement. Currently, we are focusing on enhancing our midfield and defensive capabilities," Nyongesa emphasized.

In last year's championship held in Nairobi, Kenya, Prisons clinched the second spot after a hard-fought battle, succumbing 49-37 to NIC.

"We aim to rectify all the errors that contributed to our defeat in 2023. It served as a valuable learning opportunity, and with the extensive training, we've undertaken, we are determined to overcome the shortcomings that resulted in last year's loss," Nyongesa emphasized.

Goal shooter Christine Namulumba, improving her shooting accuracy, vows to lead her team to victory.

"We've undergone extensive training. As an institutional club, we remained proactive despite the absence of the league. We stand united as players, and with the guidance of our coaches, I am confident we will give our competitors a tough challenge," Namulumba affirmed.

NIC boasts a dominant record in East Africa, with 21 titles, while Prisons has secured three East Africa titles.

At the upcoming East Africa Netball Championships in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, Uganda will be represented by three women's clubs Prisons, NIC, Makindye Weyonje, and WOB on the men's side.
