📷 Vision Group launches National Martyrs’ Choral Singing Competition

Submissions are now being accepted from choirs all over the country after Wednesday’s launch of the eagerly awaited National Martyrs’ Choral Singing Competition 2024.

Organised by Vision Group with the aim of celebrating harmony and talent while honouring the legacy of the Uganda Martyrs, the launch at Serena Kampala Hotel esteemed guests including Rt. Rev. Bishop Emeritus Jackson Matovu and Ven. Canon Moses Banja, along with Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereirwe.

Vision Group Deputy Managing Director Gervase Ndyanabo underscored the importance of choir competitions in improving music quality, adding that the National Martyrs’ Choral Singing Competition, to be held annually, aims to honour the Uganda Martyrs and promote Christianity.

Bishop Banja highlighted the importance of the competition as a tribute to the Uganda Martyrs, urging participants to be fruitful in their endeavours.

Monsignor Fr. Lawrence Ssemusu, representing Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere, echoed these sentiments, praising Vision Group for spearheading efforts to promote unity among Christian believers through music.

The competition is open to Anglican and Catholic choirs from across Uganda.

A distinguished panel of judges, comprising experts from both Catholic and Anglican traditions, will oversee the competition, and choirs stand to win generous cash prizes, with the winning Catholic and Anglican choirs each receiving sh10 million.

Additionally, the first runners-up from each side will be awarded sh5 million, while the second runners-up will receive sh3 million.

Following the competition, the music will be made available to the public and media at no cost, thanks to the support of sponsors including the Office of the First Lady, Equity Bank, and Crown Beverages.
