New UMS president frontlines collaboration to boost the sector

The newly elected president of the Uganda Marketer Society (UMS), Charity Asiimwe, has pledged to frontline collaboration among different sectors to boost the society’s activities. 

Asiimwe, a Chartered Marketer who has over 16 years in marketing across various sectors and is one of the co-founders, succeeds David Balikudembe, a Chartered Marketer who has been serving the society as President since March 2022.

Speaking at the annual general meeting that was held at the Hotel Africana last week, Asiimwe promised togetherness and marketing excellence through innovation, integrity, collaboration, and sustainability as a collective effort to progress society.

Asiimwe stated that the new leadership will steer society to achieve its vision 2024-2026, “to become the leading body for marketing practitioners and professionals inspired towards the development, promotion, and application of world-class marketing leadership.”.

Additionally, it will bring value to the shareholders, which include brands, organizations, and marketers.

Balikudembe commended the UMS Secretariat elect for the passion expressed during this election as the most-participated one since its inception.

He appreciated all the partners that supported UMS when it had just begun. These included Vision Group, Crown Beverages Ltd., Uganda Breweries Ltd., and Next Media (NBS).

Other sister companies included the Uganda Advertising Association (UAA), the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), and high-level partners that include the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK).

The Uganda Marketers Society is a membership body and is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK). CIM is the world’s largest community of marketers that strives for business leaders and opinion leaders to recognize the positive contribution that professional marketing can bring to their organizations, the economy, and wider society.
