The continued increase in school fees by private schools is pushing more students to government-aided schools, with fairly affordable fees structures.

However, because most of the schools have dilapidated infrastructure, the Government will in the next financial year refurbish some traditional government-aided secondary schools across the country to accommodate more students.

Schools that will first be refurbished in the first phase, include Nabumali High School, Nabisunsa Girls School, Namasagali College, St Henry’s Kitovu, Mvara Secondary School, St Peters College Tororo and Kabalege SS.

In addition, the Government expects to equip the school with laboratory equipment, and reequip vocations and technical institutes like Elgon, Kichwamba, to further improve the education of the country.

The government has also promised to construct 15 seed schools in sub-counties that haven’t had a secondary school before.

This was revealed by President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday while delivering the State of the Nation Address at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
