Eid festivities round up in West Nile

Muslims across the world today celebrate Eid El Fitr to conclude the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

In Arua city, leaders have urged the Muslim faithful to continue with the good deeds exhibited during the Holy month of Ramadhan.

In different mosques and prayer centers in Arua city Muslim leaders noted that the rate of crime and other forms of criminality reduced during the month of Ramadhan and that unity and togetherness was exhibited among the faithful

At Taufiq mosque in Pajulu, Sheik Ali Afema, the secretary of the mosque implored the Muslims to celebrate the day with good practices of Islam and avoid social evils.



Abdul Aziz Kassim the deputy Kadhi Uganda Muslim Supreme Council in Arua city rallied the worshippers to support the needy and also cautioned them against bad conduct.



Meanwhile Brahan Alionzi the director at Islamic University in Uganda Arua campus noted with concern the increasing criminality perpetrated by some Muslims.

He appealed to the parents to prioritise good parenting practices in order to address social evils which have infiltrated the Muslim faithful’s.


In a related development he Resident district commissioners of Maracha and Madi-Okollo districts have appealed for vigilance in the communities as Muslims mark Eid-El-Fitr celebrations today.

Maracha RDC Buga Matata warned that anyone plotting to distabilise the celebrations will be apprehended by the law enforcement agencies.

On the Uganda-DR-Congo relations Buga Matata says the district’s cordial relationship with the neighboring DR-Congo has enhanced efforts to bolster security across the border.



Meanwhile the RDC of Madi-Okollo district Shuabu Toko urged communities to observe vigilance and report strange people to security operatives for swift action.

He also warned sections of youths who use e drugs and cause commotion and lawlessness in the communities.
