Smart toilet steals show at Homes & Construction Expo

The theme for Vision Groups’ Homes and Construction Expo, Innovations, Standards and Opportunities took on real meaning as Gorgeous Uganda Limited, one of the exhibitors unveiled a smart toilet to expo goers.

According to Tony Lucky, the sales manager, a smart toilet is a new innovation in the ceramics industry that is intended to make toilet use easier.

How it functions

When it is installed in the house or office, it operates under power like any other electric appliance. The toilet has different components, including a switch that is pressed to release air fresheners. After sitting on the toilet, it senses the human presence and gets ready to release scented perfume.

Pros

• It eliminates the need for toilet paper and uses less water than traditional toilets.
• It requires less maintenance as it spills by stopping the user from flushing if the toilet paper becomes clogged.
• It’s ideal for the elderly and disabled, especially in as far as hygiene matters are concerned. It provides total independence

Cons

That said, this smart toilet requires specialised maintenance and repairs, which are expensive and time-consuming.
