Jubilations and excitement received part of the First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s customized advance motorcade in eastern’s town of Kapchorwa ahead of his coveted visit on Saturday 21.

With only a few days to D-day, Muhoozi’s eye-catching advance motorcade snaked through Mbale city, the towns of Sironko and Muyembe town in Bulambuli prior to arrival to Kapchorwa on Tuesday, 17 as locals cheered, passionately.

The lengthy motorcade mounted and financed by well-wishers was flagged off by the MK Army Project Chief Mobilizer Sebei, Fadil Twalla.

“It is exciting to see that Gen. Muhoozi has the citizens at heart and wants to come down to our villages and regions to share with us,” Aisha Nagudi of Muyembe town council, Bulambuli district, admitted.

The single mother of four advanced, “I would love to see him physically that day and thank him for helping his father ensure relative peace and tranquillity we have continued to ensure under the NRM era.”

James Wabuna was thrilled by the mesmerizing convey that gently drove by his tomato roadside stall.

“The car-posters have both the photos of President Yoweri Museveni and Gen. Muhoozi on the sides and that was beautiful to watch. I felt secure when I saw those photos because it means there is some great deal of assurance in terms of stability and social-economic continuity,” Wabuna explained his joy.

Tom Cherukut of Sipi town council in Kapchorwa district turned into a cheerleader of sorts upon the sight of the convoy.

“I love Gen. Muhoozi for many reasons,” Cherukut stated.

Asked which one of those reasons stood-out for him, Cherukut responded; “when General (Muhoozi) intervened in the Uganda-Rwanda border standoff, I learnt that he always thought about the pain of the local people, in this case, we the cross-border traders who were victims of the border closure.”

Cherukut is a businessman who transports Irish potatoes and maize to Rwanda through the border point which was closed in 2019 over diplomatic-related issues.

He is among the many traders who resumed business after the First Son, travelled to hold meetings with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda earlier last year, (2022).

“We need young leaders like him, whose diplomatic prowess and maturity is quick enough to respond personally to the concerns of the local people and that is why I will attend his MK Sebei Marathon even in Kapchorwa town on Saturday,” he justified.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with the New Vision, Twalla who doubles as Tingye county Member of Parliament reasoned that the advance team comprises elite mobilizers, well-wishers, ardent fans, security officials and political leaders hailing from different parts of the country.

“We acknowledge the enthusiastic support people along the Mbale – Kapchorwa highway, small and major towns, gestured towards the MK Project motorcade. The love was humbling and real,” MP Twalla said.

The team is in Kapchorwa to indulge in the final preparatory arrangement ahead of Gen. Muhoozi’s anticipated visit.

“This team is a mix of local, regional and national strategists and mobilizers who have volunteered to come over here (Kapchorwa town) to ensure that the occasion is a big success,” Twalla explained.

As it manoeuvred the beautiful hill of Sebei, the MK convey could be seen brandishing customized T-Shirts bearing both Muhoozi and Museveni photos on the front.

Though in varying colors, the same T-Shirts bore inscriptions that read; “MK Sebei Marathon,” and “When you fight my father, you are fighting me, when you fight me, you are fighting my father.”

In Sebei, Gen. Muhoozi will take part in the MK Sebei Marathon, M7 competitive walk, tree planting exercise and cultural gala among other activities.

After Sebei, Gen. Muhoozi is expected to travel to Mbale City the next day (Sunday 22, January) where he will join Christians at St. Andrews’ Cathedral for a special prayer session.
