The Chancellor of Arua Catholic Diocese, Fr Joel Anguyo, has called for respect and appreciation of mothers, acknowledging the challenges they face in raising children.
He also cautioned against jealousy, urging people to support one another instead of envying others’ successes.
Fr Anguyo was the main celebrant at the funeral of the late Mary Musuya, mother of Dr Professor William Worodria, a senior consultant physician at Mulago National Referral Hospital. The service was held on August 30, 2025, at Ocoko parish in Arua diocese.
He praised the late Mama Musuya for her dedication to her children’s education, likening her selflessness to that of the Virgin Mary and highlighting the vital role mothers play in nurturing their children.
Fr Isaac Riyo, the Parish Priest of Ocoko Catholic Parish, also used the occasion to appeal for calm in politics.
Dr Professor Worodria described his mother as kind, honest and deeply religious.
Born on August 4, 1934, in Mbale, Mama Musuya passed away on August 23 at the Uganda Heart Institute in Kampala.
