16,000 Kumi residents get Yellow Fever vaccine shot

At least 16,968 people have been vaccinated against yellow fever out of the targeted 28,595 representing 21.4 percent.


Dr. Emmanuel Ongola, the Kumi district officer says that the residents have responded positively to the vaccination exercise, showing enthusiasm by visiting various vaccination sites.

He emphasizes the importance of vaccination, urging individuals who haven’t received the yellow fever vaccine to avail themselves of the opportunity.

Underlining the long-term benefits of the vaccination, Dr. Ongola says this vaccine provides lifetime protection against yellow fever.

He commends the district political leaders for spearheading the campaign and motivating people to get the vaccine.





Meanwhile, the Kumi Resident District Commissioner, Ahamada Washaki warns of tough actions against saboteurs.

The yellow fever vaccine is being offered free of charge to individuals aged between 1 and 60 years, making it accessible to a wide Population.

However, pregnant women and those allergic to eggs are advised against receiving the vaccine.
