Uganda's maternal mortality rate stands at 336 deaths per 100,000 live births, according to the Uganda Demographic and Health Survey 2016. This translates to 6,000 women dying due to complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, annually. This means every day, 16 mothers die while giving birth.
