📷 Tourism expo 2024 starts in high gear

KAMPALA - Vibrant colors and cultural richness welcome you at the ongoing Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2024 currently taking place at the Speke Convention Center in Munyonyo.

The attendees, including members of parliament and tourism industry professionals, were seen dressed in stunning traditional attire.

The three-day expo, organized by the Uganda Tourism Board, features exhibition stalls showcasing the best of Uganda’s tourism offerings, from cultural wear representing different tribes to virtual reality safari experiences.

Brian Lokutae, from the Kara-Tunga, a tour firm based in the Karamoja subregion, and his team were fully dressed in the  Karamojong traditional attire. Kara-Tunga stands for meaningful experiences.    
         

 
The women put on a skirt, colored beads around the neck, and an elastic band tied around their ankles.

“This year’s POATE has been in high gear which I didn't expect as compared to the previous where day one was slow.  I am very impressed this time around. I am happy with the o r g an i sin g   committee,” Lokutae said.

Robert Walugembe, a tour guide at Travel Care said so far the turnout on day one has been good.

‘We have seen many people come to inquire about our services. But it's a day early to summarise the whole event. We are waiting to see about tomorrow,” he said.

Noah Sinan, founder at Tour Sokoni said: “ This has been better organised compared to the previous ones.”
