Singer Carol Nantongo has emphasised that she has no ill feelings towards her colleague, Eddy Kenzo, and his love interest, energy state minister Phiona Nyamutoro.

She advised Kenzo to be focused and faithful to Nyamutoro, saying women like her are not easily found.

Nantongo made the remarks during an interview on Bukedde TV on Monday, May 6, 2024.

She denied romance allegations levelled against her and Kenzo, clarifying that she does not date nor admire fellow musicians.

Nantongo emphasised that Kenzo is her long time close friend who she collaborates with.

“I used to do video challenges with Kenzo whenever I released a new song with the purpose of promoting the projects. That's where people started suspecting us of having a relationship. Kenzo is the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, where I am a member. I used to meet him for advice and guidance whenever I could go for federation meetings," she said.

Nantongo revealed that she knew of Kenzo’s relationship with Nyamutoro before he publicly declared it during a show at Comedy Store in Lugogo, Kampala on Idd.

"Eddy is my close friend. We used to share secrets. Eddy is a Haji. His religion (Islam) allows him to marry as many women as he wants. I cannot manage having co-wives because I am jealous. I have my own man who is mine alone. I will disclose him to the public soon when the right time come," Nantongo said.

On her friendship with singer Lydia Jazmine, she said it's no more. Nantongo, however, refuted rumours that the friendship ended due to Kenzo.

“I cannot date my friends’ boyfriends or husbands. Imagine there is some musician who wanted to use the time Lydia and I fell out to to spoil her reputation and career.  Someone in the music industry used a foreign number and sent Lydia Jazmine’s nudes to my phone by use of WhatsApp application. He asked me to release them to journalists and bloggers. Jesus Christ, I got shocked. However much Lydia and I are not friends anymore,  I could not share those nudes. I was groomed in a religious family. I am a God -fearing woman who respects culture. I kept the nudes safely in my phone. I have no intention of using them in any form. I do not wish anything bad to happen to Lydia. I  wish her well and it’s the reason as to why even I posted about  her First Born concert and requested my fans to go and support her," Nantongo said.

On Wednesday, May 8, during an interview with Lydia Jazmine about the saga, she clarified that as she has no problem with Nantongo.

“I cannot waste my time on Carol Nantongo’s stories. She can continue to talk whatever she wants about me, but personally I have no problem with Nantongo. I have never taken any nudes in my life and i will never take any nudes or send them to anyone, I assure my fans that I am not the one in the nudes which Carol is talking about. Maybe she has some else’s nudes, but not mine. I am a responsible woman who respects my body that God blessed me with,” Jasmine said.

We went further talked to Vision Group lawyer Kenneth Ntende on the nudity and pornography leakkages, where many Ugandan female celebrities have been victims.

“Consensual dissemination of nudes is prohibited since it has an element of invasion of someone’s privacy. There are things which are done in people’s private life that are not supposed to be part of the public life. It violates people’s rights to privacy and its punishable under the Computer Misuse Act, and dissemination of private information violates human’s rights and liberty in the law and its also punishable because it violates the rights of the person and self-dignity,” he said.
