Princess Komuntale’s return brings vibe to Empango celebrations in Toro

Komuntale will participate in a number of pre-coronation activities, including the Royal Expedition, a major initiative aimed at promoting eco-tourism and raising awareness about conservation across Toro’s ecological and cultural sites.

FORT PORTAL - Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale, the sister of Toro king Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, returned home on Tuesday ahead of the Kingdom’s 30th Coronation Anniversary.

The Princess who lives in the United States of America arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with her husband, Anthony Phil, to a joyful and emotional welcome from family, Toro Kingdom officials, royal subjects and friends who were joined by traditional dancers to celebrate her homecoming.

Ronald Mutegeki, the kingdom’s deputy minister of information, described her return as a major milestone in the lead-up to the 30th Coronation Anniversary.

“Her coming is significant for this year’s Empango celebration and a big milestone, as she is Batebbe, a big royal position head of Ababiitokati.

Her presence unites: her family, plus clan and the entire people of Tooro. This is not just a celebration for the Toro region, but for the entire nation,” he said.

According to the document released to the Press by the kingdom's Prime Minister, Calvin Armstrong, Komuntale will participate in a number of pre-coronation activities, including the Royal Expedition, a major initiative aimed at promoting eco-tourism and raising awareness about conservation across Toro’s ecological and cultural sites.

On several occasions, Omukama Oyo has been promoting Toro's potential through excursions in different national parks plus conservation sites in Toro kingdom and neighbouring regions.
