The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is today, July 17, 2025, set to hold its primaries for Members of Parliament across all villages in the country. The winners are expected to carry the party's flag come the 2026 national general election. 

Voters are expected to convene at different venues starting at 10:00 am, and names in the register read to confirm attendance. The voting is expected to take place between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Eligible voters are strictly NRM members in the village.

Adjumani Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Taban Data Peter has encouraged the voters to report early at the voting centre.



While the Nebbi district NRM election commission registrar, Melki Kakura, said the primaries have attracted 12 aspirants.



In Pakwach district, the NRM publicity secretary, Chope Oramba, said they are prepared for the election because they have already held a security meeting with the candidates, urging them to refrain from any cases of violence from their supporters.



Head of West Nile region RDCs Gertrude Obedi said they have prepared for the NRM Primaries, and deployment has been made in the hotspots.



In Adjumani district, party registrar Amos Chandimale has urged the candidates and the supporters to follow the guidelines, warning against drunkenness during the process.



In order to maintain peace, Charles Akuku Anzo, the NRM chairperson Adjumani district, cautioned the candidates against the ferrying of supporters.



The candidates for Adjumani West area MP are Moses Kibrai, Moses Ali, Adrawa Santos and Owole Nixon, while for Adjumani East, has Mamawi and Dulu Mark Angel.

The race for the woman member of Parliament for Adjumani has three candidates: Abaabiku Jessica, Opiya Vicky and Raleo Rose.
