Security forces have been deployed at Lake Site Primary School in Jinja City where hundreds had gathered to elect the NRM flag bearer for Jinja South East Constituency.

The Jinja South East race is a hot spot where incumbent Nathan Igeme Nabeta is facing off with Richard Mbaziira.

Both the Police and the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces were deployed at Lake site where violence was expected.

At Lake site polling station, the registrar, Joseph Mahande, did not use the party register as per the guidelines of the party electoral commission.

Igeme garnered 941 votes against Mbaziira’s 880 votes.

Joseph Mahande, the election officer at Lake Site primary school polling station, said police and army contained violence which was being caused by both camps.

They confronted the Election Officer, Samuel Nadigo and threatened to beat him if he continued with the counting of votes.

Nadigo was saved by the Police, who directed a re-read of the names in the voters register, which he did, and later the counting proceeded.
