LANGO - The party primaries verdict is out, and it is looking bad for six incumbents in Lango.
Six incumbent regional Members of Parliament are still counting losses following the countrywide National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries on July 17, 2025.
The legislators who suffered defeat from the newcomers are: Lango parliamentary group chairperson Judith Alyek of Kole district, Tonny Ayo of Kwania County, Dorcas Acen of Alebtong, Christine Akello aka Gwok Adako of Erute North, Moses Ogwal Ogoli of Dokolo North and James Olobo Dubai of Kioga North.
Alyek was defeated by Sandra Aceng, Ayo was trounced by Tonny Eron his former political assistant, Acen by Dr Mercy Lakisa , Ogwal Goli by Ogwal Jasper Jones and Akello by Patrick Ongom aka Aregedeng.
Alyek got 11,005, while her rival Aceng polled 20,215; Acen got 8,348, while her opponent Lakisa got 25,323 votes; former legislator Christine Acen got 14,625, and Janet Akello trailed with 2,348.
For Kwania, Eron got 7,732, and MP Ayo 7,253. Ogwal Jones, the newcomer, defeated Goli with 5,964 votes, while Goli scored 4,915 votes.
Other candidates for the constituency (Dokolo North) were Ogwal Casimiro (4,503) and Fr Alfred Okello Junior 2,144. MP Olobo was defeated by Lira-based businessman Peter Okodo.
Sailed through
MPs who sailed through are: Felix Okot Ogong of Dokolo South with 12,408 votes against Denis Ekoch's 3,626 votes. Richard Obura 295, George Omoding 140 and Leo Odur 27. Paul Omara of Otuke county 9,208 votes against Richard Omara Awio 4,890, Bosco Odongo Obote 1,265 and David Obong Oleke 431.
For Otuke district, incumbent Susan Abeja scored 21,437, defeating former legislator Silvia Akello, who gathered 13,665, Betty Angom 1,025 and Stella Amony 277.
In Otuke East, MP Julius Achon defeated Francis Abola, the district LC5 chairperson, with 13,258 votes, leaving him (Abola) with 8,400. Other MPs who made it were Betty Engola of Apac, Dr Agnes Atim Apea of Amolatar and Dr Samuel Opio Acuti of Kole North, among others.
