At least 16 district councillors drawn from eight sub-counties in Kwania District have gone unopposed as flag bearers of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
They include Jacob Edule of Aduku Sub-County, and Issac Newton Etime of Inomo sub–county.
For the LC5 chairperson's party flag, former chairperson Basil Anthony Okello Onac is facing Aduku town council LC5 councillor George KK Akaca.
Kwania District Returning Officer Moses Odongo said the election started peacefully, although with a low turnout of voters.
Odongo said election of the district chairperson’s flag-bearer is running in the 447 polling stations in the district. Meanwhile, the election of the district councillors is being conducted in only three out of the 11 sub-counties in the district.
