President Yoweri Museveni has reshuffled over 40 Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) in a shakeup that has seen some being transferred and elevated from lower to higher ranks.

Rukungiri RDC, Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo, has been moved to Pakwach, while the Rubirizi RDC, Bron Kikanshemeza, has been sent to Rukungiri. Mubende RDC Hajji Umar Lule Mawiya has been transferred to Kampala as RCC, taking over from Jane Asiimwe Muhindo, who has been moved to Sheema.

Others affected include the Kawempe Division deputy RCC, Hajji Nuur Njuki, who has been moved to Kalungu as deputy RDC, while the deputy RDC Mukono, Hassan Kasibante, has been moved to Jinja in the same position.

The Kabale RDC, Godfrey Nyakahuma, has been transferred to Kaberamaido and will be replaced by Rtd. Maj. Godfrey Katamba, who was blocked last week when he went to Rwampara to take over from Harriet Nakamya.

In a spirited fight, Nakamya refused to leave office, saying she had been victimised for her role in the National Resistance Movement party primaries, where Ann Kansiime was tussling it out with Molly Kansiime for the district woman MP seat.

The Secretary Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, confirmed the transfers and said that about 40 RDCs and RCCs have been affected by the transfers.

He, however, said the transferred were not connected to the recent NRM primaries, where several RDCs were accused of taking sides.

Speaking to the New Vision Online, Mawiya welcomed the transfer and said he was still engaged but would celebrate after taking over office.
