FDC will build on NRM's gains, says Nandala Mafabi

In his speech, Nandala noted that it is true the NRM government has made some gains, but there’s a lot that Ugandans need, a reason they (FDC) have decided to come and do them.

Throughout his political rallies, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag-bearer James Nathan Nandala Mafabi has pledged to continue protecting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) achievements and gains once he gets into power.

In his speech, Nandala noted that it is true the NRM government has made some gains, but there’s a lot that Ugandans need, a reason they (FDC) have decided to come and do them.

“Mr Museveni has done something and we appreciate him. That is why when we get into power, he will not face any prosecution from my government. We will make sure he enjoys his retirement in his home. All we want from him is to hand over power once Ugandans vote for change,” he told people at his rallies.

“Just as President Yoweri Museveni; an expert in war, went to the bush to fight and bring peace and security to Uganda, I have also come as an economic expert to fix our economy and bring wealth to the country,” he added at his Kasese main rally on October 5, 2025.

The FDC manifesto, which focuses on fixing the economy by making sure people have money in their pockets, highlights the need to empower the economy from the grassroots, fixing the infrastructure, like roads and health services in the country.

“A freedom fighter brought you security, as he always tells you people. For I am an expert in economics. So, vote for me, an economic expert, to fix this country's economy and bring you wealth," Mafabi told the chanting crowd.

In his campaigns, he has spoken about what he calls the high poverty levels, poor roads and lack of health logistics in health centres like drugs and that these are not the gains the NRM should be proud of.

Among the NRM gains fronted by President Museveni’s camp are good roads across the country, an improved and developing economy, peace, improved education levels and quality and available health care across the country that has even increased Uganda’s life expectancy to over 70%.

Mafabi hopes that the challenges like inadequate salaries and disparities to teachers, loadshedding are the reasons Ugandans will vote his party to power.

Today, October 6, Mafabi is in Kamwenge district and Fort Portal City in an inquest to uproot the NRM government in power.
