"As FDC, we want a united country. Right now, our country is divided on tribal lines, sectarianism and jobs given out to selected classes of people, education gaps between the poor and the rich, and this must come to an end," he said.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag-bearer Nandala Mafabi has pledged to create what he is calling a united country that treats all citizens equally, irrespective of their economic status, political affiliations, religious beliefs, and tribal differences.

Nandala said yesterday, October 26, 2025, while addressing a campaign rally at Alwa trading centre, Alwa sub-county in Kaberamaido district.

"As FDC, we want a united country. Right now, our country is divided on tribal lines, sectarianism and jobs given out to selected classes of people, education gaps between the poor and the rich, and this must come to an end," he said.

Nandala said all these were attached to a kingdom-like set of administration attached to selected families in Uganda at the expense of ordinary citizens.

"How many years did the Kingdom rule in Israel under King David end?" he asked.

40 is 40

"Children of Israelites were suffering in the desert for 40 years. The Dua for Muslims lasts for 40 days. Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days, but most importantly, the days of a thief are also 40, so 40 is 40," he said.

Nandala, who pledged to fight divisive politics, echoed the same challenge at Township Primary School, Otuboi town council in Kalaki district.

"What the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has failed to do in 40 years cannot be done in just five years, but with God, everything ends at 40," he insisted.

Nandala, who promised the National Resistance Movement (NRM)-like Parish Development (PDM) model programme of fighting poverty in Uganda, said that corruption has been a key misfortune in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's government.

"I shall give shillings 100 million per village per year to help you come out of poverty. If it was not due to corruption, even PDM should have lifted you out of poverty," he acknowledged.

Without elaborating how he will fix the Ugandan economy, which is surviving with a debt burden of over shillings 70 trillion, he promised a 10% agricultural budget from the overall national budget.

"I want to address the burden of heavy taxation and pay public servants well," he explained.

Nandala, who threatened to end President Museveni's 40-year reign, pledged to tarmac roads, revive cotton growing and co-operatives in the country.

"Prioritising education for all is the only way to go because it is difficult to become president when you never went to school," he emphasised.
