KAMPALA - Small businesses operating in the Albertine region have been urged to deploy the skills they have received over two years to create social transformation.

The call was made by officials from the French Embassy and Stanbic Business Incubator Limited (SBIL) which supported the agro-ecology and eco-tourism training programme which was closed Wednesday afternoon.

The training which started in 2021 intending to equip Micro Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises to enable them to create jobs in their communities, was funded by development partners such as the French Embassy.

Over 110 MSMEs under their umbrella association called NISAT (Network for Innovation and Sustainable Agriculture and Tourism), have been trained.

“We are happy that we have managed to impact the lives of 110 entrepreneurs with MSMEs, through our training program that aimed at equipping them with Agroecology and Eco-Tourism skills in their communities,” said Ony Razafintsalama, the cooperation attaché of the French Embassy in Uganda, while giving her closing remarks at the ceremony.

Nelson Kasadah, the programmes manager at the Incubator asked the NISAT members to implement what they have been taught (in their business) in order to create more jobs for the youths in their communities.

At the same ceremony, SBIL, also launched a Green Business Hub, that will bring all entrepreneurs and innovators on board to scale up green campaign initiatives that the company is advocating for in all its business-related activities in the country.

The ceremony was attended by SBIL's chief executive, Tony Otoa, NISAT members represented by JERO Farm's CEO, Anne Arihomugisha and French Embassy officials.
