La Liga delegate Alvaro Abreu who covers Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia was present to award the winning sides with jerseys, medals, and trophies.

For the past two years, La Liga has managed to do more than 70 activations only in Uganda and Kenya stretching to 500 on the continent.

“We are doing this because we have a firm commitment to be a social brand that adds value to the communities beyond being the competition where Real Madrid and FC Barcelona play,” Alvaro stated.

This year, La Liga plans to organise a big camp where UEFA Pro coaches will be available.

“Their main target will be to spread the Spanish La Liga methodology to everyone that wants to participate in it. However, the camp will not be successful if the people in the region have not changed their mindset. “I think one of the biggest challenges I have seen so far is the mindset and perception of some people who still think that La Liga only organizes the Spanish top-tier League,"  Alvaro said.

"But we have talked to people here in the region and we believe that mindset will change and start counting on us as big potential partners in many more areas to promote their brands commercially, receive new education and promote employability, create events, and develop long-term programs.”
