UMC-Fort Portal Rally for July 8 to 10

Competitive stages 119.5kms

Liaison distance 74kms

Competitive stages are

Amabere ga Nyinamwiru 8.99kms,

Karim Hirji 9.94km,

Harugongo 25.6kms 

Kyakaigo 5.52kms.

Racers will put out a fight in 194kms in the battle for honours in the UMC Fort Portal Tourism City Rally from July 8 to 10.

Paul Balitema, the Assistant Clerk of the Course (COC) disclosed this to Vision Sport after the launch of the three-day event in the western city of Uganda saying that the four stages shall be repeated with Kyakaigo being the last to give the fans a second feel of the spectator stage.

“We are putting in everything to have a better and safe event. We have also decided to have the Kyakaigo stage repeated to give fans the best feel of the rally as it winds up on day three," Balitema said.

According to Balitema, the racers will go for route reccing on Thursday and Friday.

The event that is the fourth round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) will start with the super special stage at Kyakaigo Arena, 2kms out of Fort Portal City.

The Arena will be hosting its second event after hosting last year's autocross but the city will be hosting the sixth edition since 2015.

The inaugural event in 2015 dubbed the Mountains of the Moon Rally was won by Arthur Blick Jr won after a board room decision that followed a draw with John Consta.

Rookie Muwanguzi to Open the Routes

The event sponsored by FIG Tree Bar & Restaurant will see rookie, Joshua Muwanguzi opens the route for the top boys battling for the NRC title.

The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda deputy vice-president, Rey Kibira noted that they are working hard to that a repeat of the Mbarara incident in January does not happen again.

In Mbarara, there was a fight between FMU and the organising Club Mbarara with FMU releasing and cancelling letters that stop the event which later successfully took place.
