Team Uganda ready for Commonwealth Games

Uganda's team to the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games flys out to England on Sunday.

The contingent including rugby, table tennis, squash, weightlifting, and swimming conducted their Covid-19 tests at the Uganda Olympic Committee on Saturday.

Team captains, coaches, and athletes expressed their readiness in defending Uganda’s flag.

“We are ready, my athletes including Charles Kagimu have been training and I know we are going to get great results,” Uganda Cycling Association president Sam’Mahaba’ Muwonge told Vision Sport.

Squash players Michael Kawooya and Paul ‘Kadoma’ Kasirye also noted that they have more than enough experience to perform better than in their previous outings.

The teams traveling on Sunday include wrestling, while those leaving on Monday include para-swimming, badminton, boxing, netball, and cycling.

Meanwhile, after the tests, Vision Group handed over the Commonwealth Games guide magazines to all the athletes and officials on the team.

The members appreciated Vision Group's initiative to have a magazine for them that will also act as souvenirs for them.
