IUEA v Nkumba

3pm, Lukuli

IUEA coach, Hassan Wasswa has reiterated the need for his players to convert the chances they get in front of goal ahead of their upcoming clash against Nkumba University in the Pepsi University Football League on today at Lukuli.

IUEA have struggled in their two opening games of the competition, drawing 1-1 against Gulu University and losing 3-1 to St. Lawrence University. Despite showing intent on the pitch, the Kasanga based university have failed to make the most of their chances in front of goal.

“It's about us adding that final third (quality) to our game plan to make sure that the good play that we have leads to a goal. I felt we have had good possession with good build up through the midfield but converting those chances is what is failing us” Wasswa said.

“The key thing for us now is to take that into the final third to create opportunities and chances on the opposition goal, because we found ourselves in really good positions, but just couldn't quite get the output that we wanted, which St. Lawrence certainly did. So that's something that we have been working on all week long,” Wasswa added.

Meanwhile Nkumba University coach Suleiman Bbosa says his side are still going through a transition period and wants to see his team build a strong mentality despite thrashing Gulu University 4-0.

“For me, it's very important to see where my players are mentally upright and I look a lot at how the team develops as a group. If you want to win or want to go far in a tournament, you need a very, very strong spirit." Bbosa said

“We also need to increase our speed to ease penetration and kill off the game as early as possible,” Bbossa added
