Nkumba 0 UCU 0

Despite sharing spoils with Nkumba, Uganda Christian University (UCU)  captain Shadia Nankya believes nothing will stop her side from claiming gold at the 19th edition of the National University Games that are underway at UCU in Mukono district.

This follows a goalless draw played today.

"It has been a tactical game and we fought for a win and managed to get a draw. It is not the result we wanted but we don't have to lose hope. I believe we still have the chance to do well," said Nankya.

UCU came into the tie on the back of two consecutive wins against Kyambogo (3-0) and Kampala(1-0) University.

UCU are the overwhelming favourites given the fact that they are the reigning champions after beating Nkumba during the 18th edition of the games that were hosted by the University of Kisubi (UNIK) in 2019.

Signs were evident that this was not going to be an easy tie in the fact that both teams played at the finals of the 18th edition and UCU went ahead to grab the title from Nkumba.

However, UCU also had an upper hand over Nkumba because they play in the FUFA women's super league meaning that they had all the expertise.

Also, UCU were playing on their home ground and they were cheered by the home fans which was not the case with their opponents.

UCU bounces back to action today(Tuesday) against Nkumba University.
