Super welterweight Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Jr is confident he will supersede his late father’s boxing legacy.

Ssenyange Jr revealed this after his brutal first round knock out of Egyptian Ibrahem Kandel in an event dubbed the UAE Rising Stars Boxing Night at the Yas Marina Golf Course Island in Dubai.

“Hate me or like me, my boxing story has officially begun this year. Many doubted me but soon they are going to bow down onto me. I want to set a boxing legacy that will last for ages” Ssenyange vowed before a fully packed audience.

“My dream goes beyond what my late father achieved in the ring. I want to supersede him. I know it sounds difficult but this is what I’m chasing”

Ssenyange Jr floored Kandel in just two mins and 45 seconds of what would have been a six-round contest.

Prior to the knockout, his thunderous left hook had sent Kandel into three knockdowns before the former national boxing team ‘The Bombers’ pugilist went on to finish the business.

The event that also featured former WBO Super Intercontinental featherweight champion, Morocco’s Moussa Gholam who defeated South Africa’s sensation “Baby” Lunga Sitemela was streamed live by DAZN Boxing and ESPN.

And to Ssenyange Jr, fighting on such a bigger card just proves how ambitious he is and ready to go.

“My target is to have ten professional fights this year. I’m happy I have already featured on a bigger platform together with Africa’s best. We are good to go”

Ssenyange Jr's corner had UK based trainer Urfan Sheikh who travelled from England to second him together with Dubai based Musa Batantu.

This was Ssenyange Jr’s second professional fight since quitting open boxing in December, 2023.

He has won both of them by knockout.
