Namilyango College's Old Boys' Association (NACOBA) recently celebrated its 14th annual sports gala in style at the Makerere University Business School Grounds (MUBS Grounds).

This year's event, coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8, brought together alumni from various graduating classes for a day of sportsmanship and nostalgic reunions.

The atmosphere at the gala was electric, with the Dream Team Class of 2003-2008 securing the top spot, closely followed by the Tyrants Class of 2010 – 2015.

From classic sports like soccer and basketball to strategic games such as chess and table tennis, participants engaged in friendly yet competitive matches, showcasing their athletic prowess and camaraderie.

Beyond the thrill of competition, the sports gala served as a platform to honour the accomplishments of Namilyango alumni, highlighting their continued excellence beyond their college years. It was a day filled with reminiscing about shared experiences and reigniting the bonds that defined their time at Namilyango.

Andrew Mutono Kakooza, the vice-president of NACOBA, emphasised the importance of the event in fostering unity and gratitude among alumni.

"The NACOBA sports gala is more than just a sporting event; it's a family reunion," Kakooza shared. "It allows us to come together, support our alma mater, and recognise the outstanding achievements of our fellow old boys."

The partnership between NACOBA and Guinness, as echoed by Roy Tumwizere, Guinness brand manager, underscored the gala's significance in promoting a shared passion for sport and camaraderie. Tumwizere expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting its evolution into a genuine alliance driven by mutual interests.

The festivities reached a crescendo with electrifying entertainment from Double Black, who kept the crowd grooving to their timeless hits well into the night. Their performance encapsulated the spirit of the gala, adding an extra layer of celebration and joy to the memorable occasion.

Since its establishment in 1902, Namilyango College has remained a pillar of excellence in Ugandan education, shaping responsible individuals and making significant contributions to the nation's development. The annual sports gala stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the college and its alumni.
