African Games: FUBA summons U23 3×3 teams

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association has summoned the team that will represent Uganda at the African Games in Ghana.

Joel Kayiira and Marvin Jesse Okurut of the UCU Canons have been called up to represent the nation. 

Kayiira, who recently debuted with the Silverbacks in the AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, continues his national team journey. 

Okurut, known for his performance in the Under 18 AfroBasket in 2022, will bring his experience to the team alongside Duncan Lubwama of the JT Jaguars.

The girls that were summoned include Gazelles and UCU Lady Canons Sheilah Lumunu who has earned 42 defensive rebounds, and 25 steals.

Mary Amaniyo of KIU Rangers has been among the young players putting up outstanding performances, scoring 128 points and 93 rebounds in the National Basketball League.

Uganda competed in 3x3 basketball at the 2019 Africa Games hosted by Morocco and the women's team reached the quarterfinals in the tournament and will look to perform to greater heights. 

Summoned players: Joel Kayiira, Marvin Jesse Okurut (UCU), Duncan Lubwama (Jaguars), and Obleng Peter (KIU Titans).
