Uganda v Ghana

Uganda will need to improve in their second friendly against Ghana next Tuesday to get a decent result. Cranes suffered a 4-0 defeat against Comoros in their first friendly on Friday at Stade Grande Marrakech in Morocco.

Rafiki Saidi and Faiz Selemani each scored a double in the first and second half respectively to beat Uganda. There were a few changes in the team as BUL FC goalkeeper Tom Ikara, Moses Opondo, and Kaka Omony started the game.

Even when Put introduced Fahad Bayo, Milton Karisa, Steven Mukwala, Ronald Ssekiganda, and Carl James Mujaguzi in the second half, there was little difference for the Cranes.

The only consolation for the Cranes is that the team had new players who were making their debut.

Uganda is using these two buildups to prepare for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the second stage of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Hearts of Midlothian defender Toby Sibbick, and youngster Shafic Kakande who are the other new faces in the team didn’t feature in the tie against Comoros. They will be expected to make their debut against Ghana.

Steven Mukwala is another player who didn’t feature.
