French Envoy to Uganda Xavier Sticker has assured Uganda that all is set for the Paris Olympics Games slated for July 26 to August 11 and all the necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the games are successful.

“France is all set for the games and we have all the facilities ready,” Sticker said.

He noted this on Thursday at Lugogo Sports Complex during the launch of 100 days to the Paris Olympics countdown.

The ceremony was graced by Uganda’s envoy to France, Doreen Ruth Amule, State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, the Uganda Olympic Committee UOC) president, Donald Rukare, National Council of Sports General Secretary Bernard Ogwel, and other dignitaries.

“A few weeks ago I was running with Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei and  Peruth Chemutai and they told me how thrilled they are to be taking part in this year’s Games,” Sticker said.

Uganda has so far qualified 20 athletes for this year’s games with hopes of qualifying more athletes as UOC boss Rukare affirms.

“Marking 100 days to the games is a milestone and we now centre our focus on helping federations so that we can have even a bigger number this year as compared to the 2020 games in Tokyo," Rukare said.

Uganda won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in Tokyo.
