Kimaanya, Masaka SS, Buddo SS qualify to USSSA boys football round of 16

Blessed Sacrament Kimanya matched on to the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) national boys’ football championship round of 16, after seeing off Kakungulu Memorial in a hard-fought 2-1 win in the round of 32 match on Wednesday.

The team that is pulling the biggest crowds to their games did not disappoint their fans who were seen drumming and cheering, as they saw off Kakungulu Memorial.

In other games, Jinja SS eliminated Kibuli SS 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 draw, defending champions Kitende dispatched St Charles Lwanga Kasasa 2-0, Buddo SS were 1-0 winners over Bukedea Comprehensive, Kabalega SS eliminated Welden School 4-3 on penalties.

It was a good day for Jinja Schools as all three qualified with Jinja Progressive beating Fort Portal SS 3-0 and Jinja Comprehensive eliminated London College 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.

Standard High Zzana eliminated Mentor SS 2-1, Kawempe Moslem beat St Joseph’s College Layibi 2-0, Amus eliminated Paidha with a 5-0 beating, Wisdon SS eliminated Ndejje SS 5-3 on penalties following a 3-3 normal time draw while the hosts Masaka SS also went through after eliminating rivals St Henry’s College Kitovu 4-3 on penalties.

The round of 16 will be played tomorrow Thursday, the quarter-finals are slated for Friday, the semis for Saturday, while Sunday will be for the finals and closing ceremony.
