My mother deserves all the best things in life. She is my heroine; always by my side through thick and thin. I chose to gift her a new house recently.
The one we grew up in was dilapidated and demolished shortly after my father passed. Around that time, my 74-year-old mother started staying with my brother. She loved the home but deep down, she wasn’t comfortable because she wanted her privacy and a sense of ownership.
She did not want to be answerable to anyone whenever he moved anywhere. She also needed a self-contained house where she could shower and ease herself. I took it upon myself to build a decent home for my mother. Good enough, land was available in Rwamunena, Kishabya town council in Sheema district and that is where I constructed a three-bedroom house with dining, sitting room and toilets.

It took me nine months but supervision was difficult since I was in Kampala. I followed up on the workers on the phone. Also, some materials were stolen and others were inflated.
That house cost me about sh90million which was from my savings, cash rounds and profits from the pharmacy. I also took a loan to furnish it.
I argue people to celebrate their mothers when they are still alive. We are who we are because of our mothers; they sacrificed alot to see us grow into responsible human beings.
They continue to pray for us at all times. Now that we are independent, let's reciprocate the same love by caring for them. Check on them regularly, listen to their worries and address them.
