Kololo has always been a hot spot for expats with its upscale hangouts. The vibrant nightlife has moved to a new address, a few yards away in Naguru.

Ever heard of Somewhere Else? Well, it is the latest happening place in town. Located on Naguru Drive, opposite Kampala Parents School (former Panamera),

With a music policy of Deep House, Afrohouse, and Soulful Amapiano, the hangout that officially opens on Friday has been dubbed the ‘hottest international bar in Uganda at the moment. It teems with expatriates and equally impressionable Ugandans who live the good life.

The latest news is that the hangout has signed DJ Andy Skills (Andrew Mumanya) for the Fusion Friday Nights. Information details that Skills will be on the decks with the female duo of Caye Cayetana (a Spanish musician and DJ) and Anitrax.

Over the years, Andy Skills has shown he is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to playing music for high-end crowds. He has played at expatriate events, notably the DJ. Marine Corps Birthday Ball, St. Patrick's Day Celebrations, patronised expatriate bars like Latitude 0 and others, but for Andy Skills, bagging a night at Somewhere Else hangout is an endorsement.

“It is the hottest international bar in Uganda at the moment. Getting to play on their fusion night is an endorsement. I am excited and can’t wait to show my skill on Friday,” he said.

Discussing his penchant for playing for multi-national crowds, he reveals that he puts in a lot of work and research.

“Most DJs slide into their comfort zone when they become household names. I love challenging myself; I research a lot, and that’s how I manage to fit into the expatriate community. They love my mixes,” he says.

He says that as a DJ, it is one’s job to understand the audiences that you are playing to. “I do my mixes in such a way that I do not lose the crowd. Being able to gauge the crowd comes with a lot of experience. I am blessed that many party people have publicly told me that I bring life to the party. I, however, will not sit on my laurels.”
