Kaberamaido District witnessed an exciting conclusion to the District Ball Games II tournament, with Midland High School and Kaberamaido Secondary School emerging as the top performers.

During the finals held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Esingu Boma Grounds, Midland High School claimed two major trophies, girls’ athletics and overall best in athletics.

Meanwhile, Kaberamaido SS showcased dominance across multiple disciplines, winning: boys’ athletics, boys’ and girls’ U-16 football and girls’ volleyball

St. Thomas Girls SS also made their mark by clinching the Netball trophy.

However, the celebrations were tempered by a somber note.

Francis Atubo, Chairperson of the Kaberamaido District Secondary Schools Sports Association, acknowledged that the tournament was affected by a tragic road accident on June 19, which claimed the life of a student-athlete from Kobulubulu SS.

Several others remain hospitalised at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.

“The tragedy affected the morale of some schools, but we are committed to moving forward, especially as we prepare to host the USSSA Teso Zone Ball Games II,” Atubo said.
