After guiding BUL FC to back-to-back Super 8 titles and consistent top-three league finishes, head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension.
The astute tactician, known for his relentless work ethic, joined BUL FC in the 2023/24 season following his successful stint at Mbale Heroes FC, whom he helped secure promotion to the top tier. Under his leadership, BUL FC finished second in the league that season, trailing champions SC Villa by just one point.
Kikomeko’s impact didn’t stop there. In the most recent season, he steered the team to a solid third-place finish, proving BUL FC’s status as serious title contenders for the second year running.
“I’m thrilled to continue this journey with BUL FC,” Kikomeko said. “My dream is to win the Uganda Premier League and I urge our fans to stand by us. Let’s push forward together as one family.”
Club CEO Joseph Mutaka echoed the excitement, calling the decision to retain Kikomeko a no-brainer.
“His influence has been transformative,” Mutaka noted. “With two Super 8 titles and consistent league success, he’s laid the foundation for greatness. His strong rapport with players and fans alike brings optimism and unity to the club.”
Kikomeko took over from interim coach Simon Masaba and brought with him a wealth of experience, having previously coached Busoga United FC, Kataka FC, and Mbale Heroes FC.
With renewed confidence in their leader, BUL FC now sets its sights on clinching the coveted league title—and Kikomeko’s journey continues with purpose and passion.
