Professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo has received a one-year endorsement from Johnnie Walker, the title sponsors of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship.
Rugumayo on Wednesday signed a one-year ambassadorial deal that will have the brand offset some of his financial needs as he competes in various competitions starting with the Professional’s Open due at the Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club, September 9-13.
Johnnie Walker Uganda Brand Manager Christine Kyokunda witnessed the signing of the deal at the Uganda Golf Club on Wednesday.
“Your journey of progress is one that inspires us and we are glad to have you on board. Johnnie Walker represents progress just like the keep walking mantra says,” Kyokunda said.
“We celebrate progress in all kinds, in all forms and we truly want to highlight different stories of progress specifically today we are highlighting Rugumayo’s journey of progress in the game of golf.
“We know that this new partnership will inspire other people out there a new generation of people that we would like to embrace the Johnnie Walker brand, to keep walking, and to keep dreaming. Your stories, your journeys are valid; we see them and we celebrate them,” Kyokunda stated.
Rugumayo welcomed the offer saying it was a big boost to his career and endevours to shine on the global stage.

Johnnie Walker has made a strong commitment to advancing the game of golf in Uganda, by offering a sponsorship and execution tournament package worth sh650 million for the four-in-one Uganda Open. This represents a significant increase of sh100 million from last year’s package of sh550 million, making it the brand's largest sponsorship contribution since it became the title sponsor of the Uganda Open.
