The fourth edition of the Emorimor Cup is set to take place on October 18, 2025, at the Bukedea District Boma Grounds.

Ismail Ojulu Eedu, the tournament’s technical director, confirmed that the two-day annual event is held on a rotational basis to commemorate the coronation anniversary of Paul Sande Emolot, the Paramount Chief of the Iteso.

“This will be our fourth edition of the Emorimor Cup, which was launched in 2023 and last hosted in 2024 in Katakwi District, where outstanding teams were awarded various accolades,” Eedu said.

Teams will compete in football, volleyball, netball, and handball. Winners in each category will receive trophies, medals, and a cash prize of one million shillings. Eedu also encouraged participating teams to pay a registration fee of 100,000 shillings per sport discipline.

Francis Okwii Agodo, who is in charge of football, praised Iteso Cultural Union Prime Minister Andrew Ochole for his continued support in ensuring the tournament is held annually.

“We are delighted to have this tournament in the sub-region. Grounds have already been prepared for the championship, and it’s now up to the districts to ensure teams arrive on time,” Okwii said.

Emmanuel Odelle, captain of Moroto Third Division FC—the 2024 champions—expressed confidence in his team’s ability to retain the trophy. “We’ve been preparing for the past six months, and we’re ready to defend our title,” he said.

Andrew Ochole, Prime Minister of the Iteso Cultural Union, confirmed that the championship will be graced by Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot, accompanied by other ICU ministers. He added that political leaders, religious figures, civil servants, and members of the community are expected to attend the closing ceremony.

Ochole also emphasized that the tournament serves as a platform for identifying and nurturing talent from upcountry regions.

This year’s edition will be hosted in Bukedea, with teams from Teso, Kaberamaido, Kalaki, Karamoja, and Katakwa (Kenya) expected to participate. The grand finale is scheduled for October 22, 2025, at Bukedea Boma Grounds.
