With just weeks to go, Uganda is fine-tuning preparations to host the 15th East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, a regional event that blends sports, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.

The games will run from December 5 to 17, 2025, bringing together parliamentary teams from all EAC member states.

Following a three-day review meeting in Kampala, the Joint Planning Committee (JPC) gave Uganda the green light to host, citing impressive progress in logistics, infrastructure, and health support systems. The games will unfold under the theme, “One Region, One Community: Advancing Integration Through Parliaments and Sports.”

Chairing the Local Organising Committee, Hon. Asuman Basalirwa affirmed that all key arrangements from venue inspections to medical preparedness, have been finalized.

Uganda’s top health facilities, including Kampala Hospital, Nakasero, Aga Khan, IHK, Mulago, and Nsambya, are on standby to support the event.

“We are ready to welcome our brothers and sisters from across the region,” Basalirwa said. “This event goes beyond competition; it’s about deepening regional integration and showcasing Uganda’s capacity to host world-class events.”

The organising team also announced that fixtures will soon be published, and entry to all venues will be free, encouraging Ugandans to turn up in large numbers to cheer and interact with guests.

The EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games are a unique platform where sportsmanship meets diplomacy — promoting unity, cooperation, and friendship among legislators and citizens of the East African region. As the countdown continues, Uganda stands ready to deliver a festival of sport and solidarity.
