To ensure adherence to regulations and improve service delivery in the hospitality and tourism industry, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is training several hoteliers in Gulu city and surrounding areas.

UTB, which is responsible for promoting and regulating tourism activities in the country, identified the need for regular training of hoteliers to not only maintain high standards of service delivery but also adopt more creative approaches in the hospitality and tourism sector.

Angela Nalugo, the UTB quality assurance officer, on April 25, 2024, said the training is emphasising food safety, hygiene, customer service, and safety procedures.

She added that through the training, hoteliers will be equipped with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the hospitality industry and share best practices to improve the hospitality industry.

Gulu city principal commercial officer Nicholas John Kidega lauded UTB for the initiative saying it will not only benefit individual hotels but also contribute to the overall growth of the tourism industry.
