Police in the Albertin region are investigating how a group of militiamen from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) allegedly attacked and robbed property worth millions of shillings from fishermen on the shores of Lake Albert.

The victims of the attacks include Suleiman Middy, Razaras Muhozi and one Denies, all residents of Runga landing site Kibiro parish Kiganja sub-county in Hoima district.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning at around 3o'clock as the men were fishing on the Lake Albert waters.

The Albertine regional Police spokesperson, Allan Hakiza, says the fishermen lost items valued at over sh15m.

Meanwhile, Hakiza says Police are investigating claims that some fishermen connive with the robbers to attack fishermen on the Ugandan side.
